Lola’s Can’t Wait for Movies of 2015

I’m a total sucker for Sci-fi/fantasy movies and book adaptations, and 2015 is shaping up to be a fabulous year. Get out your calendar and start writing some release dates…you’re gonna need to buy a lot of tickets and popcorn!!

And if for some reason you’ve been living under a boulder and haven’t seen the trailers, click below. Or just watch them again because you can. I’ve watched a few of these more times than I’m going to admit in public.

Blackhat

I love Chris Hemsworth. I will watch anything with Chris Hemsworth. Plus hacker thrillers = always the potential for awesome. [Releases January 16th]

Jupiter Ascending

I love Channing Tatum. I will watch anything with Channing Tatum. (Is this a trend with me and hot actors???) [Releases February 6th]

Avengers: Age of Ultron

Marvel? Avengers? Obvi. [Releases May 1st]

Far from the Madding Crowd

My inner period romance fangirl is squealing for this literary adaptation–it should scratch that itch that’s been unsatisfied since Pride and Prejudice. [Releases May 1st…see it right after Avengers!]

Pitch Perfect 2

Why is the summer so far away? Can’t wait for more acca-awesome singing and comedy. [Releases May 15th]

Jurassic World

Dinosaurs & Chris Pratt. What else do you need in your life? [Releases June 12th]

Magic Mike XXL

CHANNING. TATUM. No trailer yet, so enjoy a little flashback to the first one. [Releases July 1st]

Ant-Man

New Marvel? Don’t mind if I do! Plus, I have a total girl crush on Evangeline Lilly. Tauriel FTW. We all know the elf/dwarf love triangle wasn’t your fault, Evangeline. [Releases July 17th]

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I’m seriously hesitant about this (as are we all) but it’s got to be on the radar, because Star Wars. Let’s cross our fingers as a group that this one doesn’t turn into another Episode I situation… [Releases December 18th]

Honorable mentions:

Hot Tub Time Machine 2. This is a serious guilty pleasure and the movie will probably be terrible, but I will secretly love it anyway because Clark Duke is so precious. [Releases February 20th]

Insurgent: I’m not a die-hard fan of this series, but the sequel is worth celebrating for all us fans of book to movie adaptations. Here’s hoping more and more books get the same treatment! [Releases March 20th]

Mockingjay Part II. I was underwhelmed by Part I (because there was no human need for two parts, except to make more money for the studio) but I still love the series and will inevitably go see it. [Releases November 20th]
