If you thought last week’s writing tip sounded dumb, I can only guess what you’re thinking about this week’s tip. But it’s true. A book, short story, novella, won’t write itself. You have your BIC. Butt. In. Chair.
This is going to be a short post, because it’s easy. If you want to write, WRITE!
Whenever I tell people that I’m a writer, the usual response is something that amounts up to “I always wanted to write a book.” Then, do it. Get your butt in the chair and write the book.
It doesn’t have to be for very long either. If you have thirty minutes a day, and you write one page per day, guess how many pages you’ll get in a year? Yup. That’s nearly a full book. Crazy, right?
People then say, but I don’t know what I’m doing. Well, neither did I when I started out. And your first book probably won’t be fantastic. Writing is a craft, and you only get better by writing. The more you write, the better you’ll be.
So, what are you waiting for? Get to it!
