Lola’s Obsessions [September 2015]

Thanks to crazy busy-ness and a general lack of time-management skills, I continue to be MIA on the blog. I’m finally poking my head out of my little shell because I have reached peak obsession level on a few things and I really, really, really need to share them with you.

1. Krizz Kaliko

I listen to a lot of hip-hop. I still really love the 90’s/00’s stuff like Missy Elliot, Ludacris, and Sean Paul and I do like a lot of the contemporary tracks, but everything that makes Top 40 is always like “put your cup in the air” and “get your back off the wall.” Catchy beats, but not so much lyrical creativity these days. Good thing there’s Krizz Kaliko. This man has the voice of an angel and raps like a genius—about actual issues like mental illness and relationships (plus the occasional party song, because we still need those). And collaborations with Tech N9ne! AMAZING!!! You’ve probably stopped reading at this point, but do yourself a favor and play the songs. Where else are you going to find a guy who sings something this beautiful:

Okay. Deep Breath. I’ll move on now.

2. Coconut

Well that was a wild transition, huh? Coconut has to be mentioned this month, because I realized I love it so much I’ve had days where I literally only ate coconut products. Like coconut pudding for breakfast, coconut curry for lunch, and coconut-dressed salad for dinner—with a coconut smoothie for dessert. I am not exaggerating or making that up. The best part is, coconut is a SUPERFOOD with anti-aging properties. So I’m definitely immortal now, which is a plus.

3. Thai tea

This one’s kind of a cop out because I’m obsessed with Thai tea pretty much every month (every day, for that matter), but just look at it!!! It’s so orange and sugary sweet and delicious. If you’ve never tried it before, it’s a biological imperative that you fix that about yourself. I’m just trying to limit myself to one a day—although I think all my coconut cancels out the sugar. Right?

4. Akagami no Shirayukihime

This anime is the cutest. Although the manga was the cutest too, so I shouldn’t be surprised and neither should you. It’s just a sweet little romance, in which a red-haired herbalist meets and falls in love with the prince. Don’t you love when they fall in love with the prince?! Yes. We all do. So start watching it now.

5. Twinkiechan

My current Instagram idol. Bright colors. Yarn. Cuteness. I wish I could be half as cool. Follow her immediately.

Now spill.

What are you guys obsessing over right now? Please comment and give me stuff to check out for next month. I need books, TV, movies, anime, people to stalk, all the cute things, and so on!

And P.S.

Bloggers! Quanta is now live on NetGalley. Have you requested yet?
