Which Jane Austen heroine are you?

Ever wonder which Jane Austen heroine you’re most like?

Me, too! I love all of Jane’s heroines equally…well maybe not totally equally, but mostly equally. So, we at Ink Monster created this handy-dandy quiz.

Take this to find out which lovely lady you most resemble. For each question, select the best answer, then tally your responses using the chart below.

a. Put on something clean, simple, and practical. b. Pull out my latest couture and dazzle! c. Wish I had the funds for couture, but still work the knock-off. d. Get myself (and everyone else) ready. e. Practice dance moves in my room and lose track of the time.

2. When you think of your family, you think of:

a. A therapy moment. b. How my mother and/or father is my best friend. c. The embarrassing stuff some of them do. d. The 14 things I need to do for them today. e. A beautiful poem, which I will recite for you right now!

3. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s a…

a. Shame I have to live with all these ducks. b. Farmer-thing. c. Duck, end of story. d. Likely scenario that I’ll have to take care of it, too. e. Beautiful act of nature, sniff sniff.

4. When guys start cracking jokes, I:

a. Laugh, unless the jokes are gross and dirty. b. Laugh so charmingly that everyone notices me. c. Crack the best one. d. Can’t hang out for long, unfortunately, there’s always work to do. e. Laugh a little too hard.

5. Thinking about kissing a guy is:

a. Only a good idea if it’s one guy in particular. b. Interesting, depending on what I’m wearing. c. Only happening if I think the guy in question has good character. d. A very personal and private matter. e. Sheer bliss; bring it on!

6. I see a quarter on the sidewalk, so I:

a. Give it to charity. b. Walk right by it. c. Pocket it. d. Pick it up for my little sister (she collects quarters). e. Sing a song about luck and fortune.

Scoring: Whichever response letter you chose the most often (be it ‘a,’ ‘b,’ ‘c,’ ‘d,’ or ‘e’), then that’s your primary Austen lady, although it’s okay to resemble more than one!

Did you select ‘a’ the most? If so, you’re most like Fanny Brice from Mansfield Park. You’re a no nonsense girl with a strong moral center that doesn’t need the crowd to tell you who you are and what you think; that’s all inside you and strong, strong, strong! You take pride in your appearance, but you aren’t a fashion plate. The reason? You’ve had your share of hard knocks in life, and those experiences have made it clear what’s most important, and that’s not the superficial stuff. You also hold yourself to high standards when it comes to doing the right thing, and sometimes that means you get frustrated with those who don’t hold to the same morals. As a result, you tend to be very picky in who you like, but once you’ve chosen someone to love—especially a guy—you tend to stay with him no matter what, including if you aren’t sure if he likes you in return!

Did you select ‘b’ the most? If so, you’re most like Emma Woodhouse from Emma. You’re the natural center of your social world—when you call a party or girl’s night-out, no one wants to miss it! Dressing up is part of the fun and you know how to show off what you’ve got. Family is important to you, and the loving relationships you learned there color your entire life. You’re one of those people that fill the room with your presence, often because your mind and heart go out to everyone in your social sphere. In fact, you spend so much time taking care of your devoted circle of friends, you sometimes forget to pay attention to who and what you want. Be sure focus on your needs, girlfriend!

Did you select ‘c’ the most? Then you’re most like Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice. When it comes to the birth lottery, you didn’t get a lot in terms of family wealth, but you certainly hit the jackpot in the brains department. You don’t have tons of funds for couture clothes, but you’re smart enough to find the right knock-offs so often, no one knows the difference but you. Your intellect is dazzling and often makes you the center of attention. A smart mind leads to strong opinions, too. You’re quick to make judgments, which are absolutely on the money…most of the time. In particular, don’t be overconfident in judging the opposite sex! Sometimes you’ll rush forward without getting all the information you need in order to make a fully informed decision. As a result, your true love could be next door and you might not notice. Be sure to slow down and get all the facts, honey, then full steam ahead!

Did you select ‘d’ the most? In that case, you most resemble Elinor Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. You’re lovely, intelligent, and take-charge. You’re the rare beauty who’s also even-keeled and level-headed, able to make the tough decisions while the rest of the world runs for cover. From home to work to friendships, everyone knows they can rely on you to act smart and do the right thing. As a result, you’re the hidden foundation that keeps your family and friends strong. Be careful though! Don’t be so involved in everyone else’s lives that you forget to give yourself time to shine, as well as to find the right partner to shine with!

Did you select ‘e’ the most? If so, you’re most like Marianne Dashwood from Sense and Sensibility. Your inner life is a tempest of emotions and, goddam it, you LIKE it that way! When you love someone, you adore them. When something displeases you, you HATE it to pieces. You enjoy life to the fullest, taking risks and collecting experiences at a mind-bending pace. Even if you wanted to, you’re not the type to be vindictive, calculating or abusive. Everything you think or feel is on the surface, ready for everyone to see, and it’s all good!  A word of caution: don’t be too quick to give your heart, as most people aren’t as open and good as you are. Find some trusted friends and family for advice, and learn to put the brakes on your inner storm so you make the best decisions in the long run.

How did you do?
